Xeropotamou Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery located on the Mount Athos peninsula in Greece and is one of the autonomous monastic community’s ruling monasteries.

The monastery dates from the medieval period and houses monastic buildings, chapels and a repository of icons and religious manuscripts; it is known within the Athonite community for its library and liturgical life. Pilgrimage and monastic visitation follow Mount Athos protocols.

Xeropotamou sits on the western shore of the Athos peninsula among the line of historic monasteries that face the sea, and access is governed by the Mount Athos authorities and Greek law.

Xeropotamou Monastery is on the Mount Athos peninsula. Access to Mount Athos requires a special entry permit (a Diamonitirion) and is male-only; travelers normally reach the Athos monastic state via the port village of Ouranoupoli (Chalkidiki) and then by ferry to the main landing at Dafni or by boat to nearby ports. From Dafni visitors transfer by local boat or on foot along coastal/monastic tracks to reach individual monasteries - arrangements and exact transfers are handled locally once you have the required permit.

• You must obtain a diamonitirion (visitor permit) through the Mount Athos Pilgrims' Office in advance and note that only men are allowed to visit Mount Athos; plan your permit and travel well ahead of your trip.
• Coordinate travel with the Athos boat schedule and contact the monastery beforehand-many monasteries have strict visiting hours and some receive guests only at specific times.
• Observe monastery rules: dress modestly, ask permission before photographing monks or interior spaces, and be prepared to follow hospitality rules if you are invited inside.
