Dionysiou Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery on the Athos peninsula and one of the twenty monasteries that make up the monastic community of Mount Athos. It dates from the medieval period and remains an active monastic community.

Monastic highlights include the main katholikon with historic icons and liturgical furnishings, an extensive library and monastic cells, and coastal terraces overlooking the Aegean Sea. The site is noted for its religious art and traditional monastic life.

The monastery was established in the later medieval centuries and has retained religious function through successive historical periods, with buildings and collections expanded and restored at various times. It continues to follow the cenobitic monastic rule of Mount Athos.

Located on the western coast of the Athos peninsula in northern Greece, Dionysiou is reached by boat and footpaths that access the monastic settlements; the nearest major city on the mainland is Thessaloniki, which lies to the northwest of the peninsula.

Dionysiou is on Mount Athos peninsula (the Holy Mountain) in northern Greece. Access is by ferry to the Athos shore (usually from Ouranoupoli) and then by boat to the monastery landing. Male pilgrims must obtain a diamonitirion (permit) in advance from the Mount Athos Pilgrims’ Bureau in Thessaloniki.

• Women cannot visit Mount Athos - the monastery follows strict monastic rules; male visitors must apply for a diamonitirion in advance.
• Respect liturgical schedules: photography is often restricted inside churches and during services.
• Hire a skippers' pass if arriving by sea and coordinate arrival with the monastery secretary; unpredictable weather can delay boats.
