How to Get to Pelileo#
Pelileo is most easily reached by road from Quito (Mariscal Sucre Airport) via interprovincial buses to Ambato and a short local connection. Buses are frequent, cheap and the standard option for travellers.
Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO): Quito’s airport is the main international gateway for those heading to Pelileo. From UIO to Pelileo by road is typically 2.5-4 hours depending on traffic and the route - common options are private transfer, interprovincial bus or shuttle. Taxis/ride services from the airport to central Quito cost around USD 25-35; onward bus fares are separate.
Seymour / Other regional airports: There are no closer major international airports; arrivals into Quito or Guayaquil (GYE) are the standard options for road transfer to the central Andean towns.
Train: Ecuador’s tourist trains run on select mountain routes but they are not the primary way to reach Pelileo.
