How to Get to Guano, Ecuador

Guano is best reached by road via Riobamba. Fly into Quito (UIO) for the most frequent international service, then take a bus to Riobamba and a short local bus or taxi to Guano.

By Air

Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO): Quito’s airport is the main international gateway for Chimborazo Province. From Quito you can catch intercity buses to Riobamba and transfer onward to Guano; the Quito-Riobamba road trip takes about 3-4 hours depending on traffic and stops.

Mariscal Lamar Airport (CUE): Cuenca is another regional airport with domestic connections; from Cuenca you would travel north by bus or car to reach Guano via Riobamba, a considerably longer route than via Quito for most visitors.

By Train & Bus

Train: The Tren Ecuador tourist services include routes in the Sierra and the famous Devil’s Nose (La Nariz del Diablo) section between Alausí and Sibambe/Riobamba area (seasonal/tourist service). These are scenic but not reliable for regular point‑to‑point transport to Guano.
