Paraíso (Cartago Province) is reached almost exclusively by road from San José's airports (Juan Santamaría SJO and Tobías Bolaños SYQ). Bus services from San José and Cartago are frequent; private shuttles and taxis offer a quicker but costlier option.

By Air

Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO): The main international airport serving the Central Valley. From SJO take a taxi or airport shuttle to downtown San José (about 20-30 minutes, typical taxi ₡6,000-8,000 / US$10-13). From downtown San José there are regular buses to Paraíso (Cartago Province); expect a further 45-60 minutes and bus fares around ₡400-800.

Tobías Bolaños (SYQ): A small airport near central San José handling domestic and light international flights. Ground connections mirror SJO: taxis to San José center cost around ₡4,000-6,000 and onward public buses or shuttles to Paraíso take about 45-60 minutes.

By Train & Bus

Train: Costa Rica does not operate a regular intercity passenger railway service linking San José with Paraíso/Cartago; rail is not a practical option for this route.
