Nuevo León (Huehuetenango) is reached overland from Guatemala City (La Aurora, GUA) or from the departmental capital Huehuetenango. Expect long drives on mountain roads; there are no regular passenger trains or scheduled commercial flights directly to the town.

By Air

La Aurora International Airport (GUA): For Nuevo León in Huehuetenango Department, La Aurora in Guatemala City is the main international arrival point. From GUA you must continue by road - there are no scheduled commercial flights into Nuevo León itself.

Regional airports: Huehuetenango Department has small regional airfields (used occasionally for charter flights), but regular commercial services to Nuevo León are not standard; overland travel is the norm.

By Train & Bus

Train: Guatemala does not have an active national passenger rail network; rail is not available.

Bus / Colectivo: Intercity buses and shared minibuses run from Guatemala City and larger departmental centres to Huehuetenango department towns. Roads are mountainous; travel times from Guatemala City to Huehuetenango area towns are long (several hours to most of a day), and vehicles vary from basic buses to colectivo vans.
