Nosy Berafia

Nosy Berafia is a small island in Madagascar’s Diana Region, part of the Mitsio group northwest of the larger island of Nosy Be. The island supports small coastal villages and traditional fishing activities rather than large-scale tourism.

Beaches, shallow reef flats and nearby coral reefs are the primary on-site features used by local residents and occasional visitors; there are modest guest services rather than large resorts. Snorkeling and short boat excursions to nearby islets are common activities.

The island’s human use is primarily fishing and small-scale agriculture; there is no record of major urban development. Local communities maintain customary livelihoods and limited visitor services.

Geographically Nosy Berafia lies off Madagascar’s northern coast in the Mozambique Channel region, within the Diana Region, and is commonly accessed by boat from Nosy Be.
