Mount Hamiguitan Range is a protected mountain area and wildlife sanctuary in the Davao Region of the Philippines, recognized for its unusual pygmy forests and high levels of endemism. The site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its biological diversity.
Distinct high-elevation pygmy forests with stunted trees and dense groundcover support rare and endemic species, including several species of Nepenthes (pitcher plants) and orchids. Trails and viewing platforms provide access to key ecological zones while management aims to limit disturbance to sensitive habitats.
The area was established as a protected wildlife sanctuary and later gained international recognition for its biodiversity values, culminating in inscription as a World Heritage Site in 2014. Conservation management focuses on preserving endemic species and traditional land uses by local communities.
Located on the southeastern island of Mindanao in Davao Oriental province, Mount Hamiguitan rises inland from the coastal plain and reaches roughly 1,620 metres at its highest points.
