- Marine protected area: Part of the Bali Barat (West Bali) National Park, the island is uninhabited and known for coral reefs, wall dives and sightings of sea turtles and reef fish.
How to Get to Menjangan Island #
Menjangan Island is part of West Bali National Park and is reached by small boat from the northwest Bali coast. The usual departure points are the jetties at Labuhan Lalang or the Pemuteran area; speedboats take roughly 15-45 minutes depending on departure point. By road, Pemuteran/Labuhan Lalang are a drive from Denpasar/Ngurah Rai Airport (commonly around 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic), after which visitors transfer by boat to the island. Once ashore most snorkel/diving sites are a short walk from the jetty.
Tips for Visiting Menjangan Island #
- Plan boat departures from Pemuteran early in the morning for the calmest seas and best underwater visibility for snorkeling and diving around Menjangan.
- Menjangan lies inside West Bali National Park - expect park fees/permits and use a registered operator so your visit follows conservation rules and avoids damaging reefs.
- If you want quieter dive/snorkel spots, ask your skipper to take you to the less-visited stretches of reef; afternoons fill up with day-trippers from nearby towns.
