How to Get to Margham#
Margham sits in the Emirate of Dubai’s more rural/desert hinterland; there is no dedicated passenger airport there. Most visitors arrive at Dubai’s two airports (DXB or DWC) and continue by taxi or a mix of metro/bus + taxi for the last mile.
Dubai International Airport (DXB): Dubai’s main airport with the widest range of international connections. From DXB you can reach Margham by taxi (about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic) for roughly AED 80-150, or by a combination of metro + taxi - the Dubai Metro can take you partway (to Ibn Battuta/DM stations) and a taxi finishes the trip.
Al Maktoum International / Dubai World Central (DWC): Located south-west of central Dubai, DWC can be closer to Margham depending on the exact location. Taxi transfers from DWC to areas around Margham typically take 20-40 minutes and cost about AED 70-130. Public bus connections to central Dubai are available but require a taxi for the last leg.
Train: Dubai has a modern metro (Red and Green lines) but there is no metro stop directly in Margham. Use the Dubai Metro to the nearest station (e.g., Ibn Battuta or Energy stations) and complete the journey by taxi.
Bus: The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) runs buses across Dubai; some intercity / regional buses serve areas near Margham. Buses are inexpensive (single fares typically AED 3-7 on urban routes) but slower than taxis; check RTA route maps for the nearest stops and combine with a short taxi ride for the final connection.
How to Get Around Margham#
Margham is best reached by road from Dubai’s airports. A taxi is the simplest option; combine metro or bus with a short taxi for a cheaper route. Renting a car is useful if you want full local mobility.
- Taxi (AED 30-150) - Taxis are the most practical way to reach Margham from airports and to move around if you don’t have a car. Dubai taxis are metered and reliable; airport trips typically cost AED 70-150 depending on distance and taxi type. Use the official taxi ranks at airports or book via the RTA app or Careem/Uber.
- Dubai Metro + taxi (AED 3-20) - The metro covers major corridors; for Margham you’ll likely use the metro to a nearby station (Ibn Battuta, Energy) then take a taxi for the remainder. This reduces cost versus a full taxi from the airport but adds transfer time.
- Bus (RTA) (AED 3-7) - RTA buses serve many parts of Dubai and are very inexpensive. For semi-rural zones close to Margham you may need a bus to a hub and then a taxi. Buses are punctual but slower due to many stops.
- Car rental (AED 120-350/day) - Renting a car is convenient if you plan to explore Dubai’s outskirts or need to be mobile in the desert areas; roads are well maintained. Fuel is inexpensive compared with many countries; pay attention to parking rules and toll gates (Salik).
- Private transfer / chauffeur (AED 120-300) - Pre-booked private transfers are widely available and remove stress on arrival. Useful for groups or early/late flights. Prices vary by vehicle size and operator.
- Walking - Walking is fine for very local movement within a settlement but distances between points of interest in Margham are generally too large to walk comfortably, and shade is limited. Bring water and sun protection if you walk outside in daytime.
