The Mangoky River is a major river in southwestern Madagascar that flows generally westward to the Mozambique Channel through the Atsimo-Andrefana region. It drains an extensive interior plain and forms a delta where it reaches the west coast of the island.
The river passes through predominantly dry tropical landscapes and is an important local watercourse for irrigation and transport; seasonal rains cause large fluctuations in flow and can make crossings difficult in the wet season. The Mangoky’s lower reaches and delta open onto the west coast of Madagascar.
