Madakaripura Waterfall

Madakaripura Waterfall is a high, narrow waterfall in eastern Java, Indonesia, located in Probolinggo Regency, East Java. It is one of the taller single-canyon falls on the island and is set inside a volcanic ravine.

The site comprises a main plunge and several smaller cascades within a steep gorge; the overall drop is about 200 meters. Visitors typically walk along a riverside trail that requires multiple stream crossings to reach the base and sheltered viewing spots behind parts of the fall.

Local tradition links the waterfall to the Majapahit-era leader Gajah Mada, who is said to have used the gorge for meditation. The area has long been a local pilgrimage and attraction and is accessed by short village trails rather than formal road approaches.

Madakaripura sits inland from the northern coast of East Java in Probolinggo Regency, near the village approaches used by local guides. The falls are reached on foot from nearby village roads and parking areas rather than directly from major highways.
