Why Visit Lunsar?#
Lunsar offers a down-to-earth look at Sierra Leone’s Northern Province, rooted in market culture and industrial history. The town sits near the Marampa iron-ore belt and hosts lively weekly markets where rice, cassava and groundnuts are traded alongside artisan goods. Visitors come to observe everyday commerce, sample local dishes like cassava fritters and groundnut stew, and learn about the region’s mining and farming communities.
Best Time to Visit Lunsar#
Lunsar has a tropical climate with a long rainy season (May-October) and a dry Harmattan period (November-February). Visit during the dry months for beaches, easier travel, and clearer skies.
