How to Get to Port Loko#
Port Loko is a provincial town north of Freetown and is one of the quickest regional destinations to access from Lungi International Airport after crossing to Freetown. Road travel by bus or taxi is the standard way to get there.
Lungi International Airport (FNA): Port Loko is one of the closer major towns to Lungi/Freetown and is normally reached overland after arriving at the airport. The drive from Freetown to Port Loko typically takes about 1-2 hours depending on traffic.
(Domestic connections): There are no regular scheduled domestic flights into Port Loko; most travel is by road from Freetown.
Train: Sierra Leone does not operate a passenger rail network.
Bus / Coaster minibuses: Regular shared-minibus services and intercity buses link Freetown and Port Loko. The trip is relatively short (around 1-2 hours) and services run often during the day, making Port Loko one of the easier regional destinations to reach by public transport.
