How to Get Around L'Étang-Salé#

- Taxi / Private transfer (€30-€110) - Taxis and private transfers provide the most straightforward door‑to‑door travel on Réunion and are ideal for airport transfers and short journeys between coastal towns. They cost more than buses but save time and hassle, especially with luggage or late arrivals.

- Regional bus (€1-€5) - Local and regional buses serve many coastal towns at low cost (single fares typically a few euros). Services can be infrequent, especially on weekends and public holidays, so plan ahead. Buses are the cheapest option but not the fastest.
- Domestic flights / charters (Variable) - Short domestic flights and charter services operate between Pierrefonds and other islands/locations; these are useful for specific itineraries but are not required for travel within Réunion. Book in advance during high season.
- Walking - L’Étang-Salé village and beachfront are best explored on foot; walking lets you reach the lagoon, local restaurants and short coastal trails. Wear suitable shoes for volcanic sand and uneven paths.
