Monument New Kingdom tomb of a royal official
One of the lesser‑known burial chambers in the Valley of the Kings, recorded during modern excavations and yielding human remains and grave goods. Its archaeological material contributes to studies of New Kingdom funerary practice rather than mass tourism.
How to Get to KV48 #
Reach KV48 the same way as other tombs in the Valley of the Kings. From Luxor, cross to the West Bank by taxi or organized tour. The site is accessible on foot from the Valley of the Kings parking area via the paths that link the numbered tombs; signage and guards will direct visitors to open tombs.
Tips for Visiting KV48 #
- Check with the site office which tombs are open: some (especially smaller numbered tombs) may be closed for conservation.
- Visit early afternoon when light at the entrance can illuminate interior reliefs - but avoid the midday heat.
