How to Get to Ko Adang #

Ko Adang (Satun) is reached by boat from the mainland Pak Bara Pier in Satun Province or via Koh Lipe. From Hat Yai (regional transport hub) there are regular minivans and buses to Pak Bara Pier; from Pak Bara take a public ferry or speedboat to Koh Lipe. From Koh Lipe you can catch short local longtail boat transfers to Ko Adang (the island lies immediately west of Koh Lipe); the walk from Koh Lipe’s beaches/jetty to the longtail boats is only a few minutes.

Tips for Visiting Ko Adang #

  • Take the earliest boat from Koh Lipe to Ko Adang - arriving with the morning boats gives calm seas for the short crossing, lets you beat the day‑trippers and gives the best light for the island viewpoint hikes.
  • Buy/pay the Tarutao National Marine Park fee at the park checkpoint/ranger station on arrival and confirm permitted trails; the ranger station is also the usual drop‑off point for visitors coming from Koh Lipe.
  • Most day visitors skip an overnight stay; camping or staying in simple bungalows lets you see the island after tour boats leave and lets you hike to the western viewpoint at sunset with far fewer people.
