How to Get to Karyes, Mount Athos#
Karyes (Mount Athos) is reached overland to the Ouranoupoli/Dafni gateway and then by the official boat to Dafni; there are no regular public flights or rail services directly to the monastic state. Visiting Karyes requires prior permission (Diamonitirion) and is restricted to men only under Greek law.
