How to Get to Thasos (town)
Thasos (town) is the islands main port and is reached by ferry from mainland ports such as Keramoti or Kavala. International arrivals typically route via Thessaloniki or Kavala, then a bus/car to the ferry port and a short sea crossing.
Kavala International Airport (KVA): For Thasos island the closest mainland airport is Kavala (KVA). From Kavala city you can drive or take a bus to Keramoti and then a short ferry crossing to Thasos town; total door-to-door time is typically 1.5.5 hours.
Thessaloniki Airport (SKG): Thessaloniki offers more frequent international flights; from SKG its about a 2 hour drive to the Keramoti ferry port (or to Kavala) followed by a ferry to Thasos, making the total trip roughly 2.5 hours.
Train: There is no rail link to Thasos itself. Trains can take you to Kavala/Drama/Thessaloniki areas on the mainland, but you will still need a bus or car to reach the ferry ports.
Bus / Ferry: Buses from Kavala or Thessaloniki go to the Keramoti or Kavala ferry ports; regular ferry services (to Thasos Town/Skala Prinos) take about 400 minutes depending on crossing and route. Ferries are the standard connection from the mainland to the island.
