How to Get to Kantang
Kantang is a coastal town in Trang province with road connections to Trang city and southern Thailand. Most visitors arrive via Trang Airport (TST) or by road from larger hubs; local buses, minivans and occasional train services provide the onward connections.
Trang Airport (TST): Trang Airport is the closest commercial airport to Kantang / Kantang District, with domestic flights to Bangkok and other Thai hubs. From Trang Airport to Kantang town the drive by taxi or shared transfer takes roughly 45-90 minutes depending on traffic and costs about 300-800 THB for a private taxi; shared minivans (when available) are cheaper.
Hat Yai / Phuket options: If flights to Trang are limited, travelers sometimes fly to Hat Yai (HDY) or Phuket (HKT) and continue by bus or private transfer; transfer times can be several hours and prices vary widely (typically several hundred to a few thousand THB).
Train: Kantang is the terminus of the short Kantang branch line and Kantang Railway Station exists as a local rail terminus; train services on the southern branch are limited and infrequent-check the State Railway of Thailand timetable before planning to use trains.
Bus / Minivan: Regular road connections link Kantang with Trang town and other provincial centers. Local minivans and buses operate between Trang and Kantang; fares are modest (typically 50-200 THB) and travel times from Trang are about 1-1.5 hours depending on service and stops.
