How to Get to Thung Song
Thung Song is a transport hub in southern Thailand and is well served by the State Railway at Thung Song Junction and by intercity buses. For many travelers the train is the most comfortable overnight option from Bangkok; for regional hops use scheduled buses and minivans.
Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport (NST): The closest airport to Thung Song is Nakhon Si Thammarat (NST), about 1.5-2 hours by road from Thung Song depending on route. From NST you can take a taxi or minivan to Thung Song; road transfer times are roughly 90-120 minutes.
Songkhla / Hat Yai International Airport (HDY / HKG): Hat Yai airport is further south but commonly used for international connections; travel time to Thung Song by road is around 2.5-3.5 hours. From Hat Yai you can take intercity buses or private transfers north to Thung Song.
Train: Thung Song Junction (station code ทน. / often shown as Thung Song Junction) is a major stop on Thailand’s Southern Line. Trains from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Thung Song take ~9-12 hours depending on class and service; sleeper and seated options are available with fares ranging by class.
