How to Get to Jõhvi
Jõhvi is reachable from Tallinn by train or coach; regional services connect it with the rest of Ida‑Viru County. For most visitors Tallinn Airport plus a rail or bus transfer is the practical route.
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL): Tallinn is the main international gateway for Jõhvi (driving time ~2-2.5 hours). From Tallinn, take a direct Elron train or bus east toward Ida‑Viru; travel time by public transport to Jõhvi is roughly 2-3 hours and fares typically run €8-€15. Taxis from the airport to Jõhvi are possible but expensive (well over €100).
Narva (via Tallinn): Narva has no regular international flights; visitors coming through Narva generally arrive via Tallinn and continue east by bus or train as above.
Train: Elron operates passenger services on routes east from Tallinn; trains on Tallinn-Narva stop at intermediate stations and can be used to reach Ida‑Viru County areas. Expect journey times of around 2-3 hours from Tallinn to Jõhvi and fares in the single‑digit to low‑teens euros.
