How to Get to João Teves#
João Teves on Santiago island is reached via Praia’s main airport (RAI) or by road from Praia town; there are no rail links. Local minibuses (aluguer) and taxis are the normal onward options.
Nelson Mandela International Airport (RAI): Praia’s Nelson Mandela International Airport on Santiago is the main airport for reaching João Teves. From RAI you can take a taxi to João Teves (drive about 20-40 minutes depending on traffic) or use intercity buses/minibuses that connect Praia with interior villages; taxi fares from the airport to João Teves are commonly quoted in CVE and are modest for the distance.
Other islands’ airports: If you arrive on a different island you must take an inter-island flight or ferry to Santiago (RAI) and then continue by road - inter-island services vary by island and season.
Train: Cape Verde has no passenger rail network.
