How to Get to Jemaa el-Fnaa #

Jemaa el‑Fnaa sits in the heart of Marrakech’s medina. From Gare de Marrakech (the main train station) it is about a 15-20 minute walk (around 1-1.5 km) along the Avenue Mohammed V toward the medina. From Marrakech Menara Airport the square is roughly 6-10 km away and a taxi takes about 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.

Within the city the square is easily reached on foot from most central riads and hotels; petit taxis and local buses also serve the medina entrances.

Tips for Visiting Jemaa el-Fnaa #

Visit late afternoon into the evening to experience the full transformation from daytime market to the vibrant night food-stall and performance scene; peak atmosphere is after sunset when most entertainers and food vendors are active.
Skip the ground-level crush for at least part of your visit and go up to one of the rooftop cafés or terraces surrounding the square for panoramic photos and a calmer viewpoint of the activity below.
If you want the market's daytime trade and spice stalls, come early morning when traders are setting up - that quieter window shows a different side of Jemaa el-Fnaa that many evening-only visitors miss.
