How to Get to Jdeideh#
Jdeideh (Mount Lebanon) is effectively a suburb of Beirut and is easiest reached from Beirut’s international airport. Taxis and shared minibuses are the common ways to reach Jdeideh; there is no regular rail service.
Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY): BEY is the main airport serving Jdeideh (Mount Lebanon). From the airport a taxi to Jdeideh typically takes 20-35 minutes depending on traffic; fixed-price airport taxis or negotiated fares commonly range roughly US$15-35. Shared airport shuttle services and private transfers are also available.
Other regional airports: There are no nearer international airports; domestic arrivals (if any) normally route through Beirut first.
Train: Lebanon does not currently operate a national passenger rail network for regular travel; trains are not a practical option to reach Jdeideh.
Bus / Service Taxis (shared minibus): Local shared minibuses and service taxis operate from Beirut hubs (for example Dora and central Beirut) towards Jdeideh and the Metn area. Fares are low (a few thousand LBP or the USD-equivalent for airport-to-city shuttles); minibuses are cheap but have variable schedules-use them for daytime budget travel and a taxi for convenience or late hours.
How to Get Around Jdeideh#
Jdeideh is best treated as part of the greater Beirut area: use BEY as your entry point and pick between a taxi for convenience or shared minibuses for a cheaper daytime option. There is no passenger rail, so the road network is the primary mobility fabric.
- Airport taxi / private transfer (US$15-35) - The most reliable and direct option from BEY to Jdeideh. Airport taxis or pre-booked private transfers take about 20-35 minutes depending on traffic. They cost more than shared transport but offer door-to-door service and are advisable with luggage or late arrivals.
- Shared minibus / service taxi (Low (local fares)) - Shared minibuses (servises) run between Beirut and surrounding suburbs including parts of Mount Lebanon. They are very cheap and frequent during daytime but can be crowded and less comfortable with luggage. Good for short daytime hops from central Beirut to Jdeideh.
- Local bus (Low) - There are informal and formal bus routes linking Beirut with Metn suburbs; timetables are not always fixed and vehicles vary in comfort. Use local knowledge or ask at your hotel for the right line and stops for Jdeideh.
- Taxi within the city (Local rates) - Taxis are convenient for short trips inside Jdeideh and neighboring towns. Negotiate or ensure the meter is used; fares are moderate for short distances and useful late at night when minibuses stop running.
- Walking - Walking is practical within Jdeideh’s central neighborhoods-many shops, restaurants and offices are within a short stroll. For hillier or longer trips, prefer a taxi or bus.
