Izamal Travel Guide
City City in Yucatán, Mexico with Mayan heritage
A yellow-painted colonial town built atop Maya platforms; visitors come for the Convent of San Antonio, horseback rides through cobblestone streets, Yucatecan food like cochinita pibil, and local artisans selling hammocks and embroidery.
Why Visit Izamal? #

The Convento de San Antonio de Padua sits above the Maya pyramid Kinich Kakmó, merging colonial and pre-Columbian layers in a compact town square. Food is another draw: cochinita pibil and other Yucatecan specialties appear in family kitchens and local eateries, while artisanal workshops produce embroidery and hammocks.
