Hong Kong Park is an 8-hectare urban park located in the Central district of Hong Kong Island, opened in 1991 as a landscaped public space combining gardens, water features and cultural facilities. The park sits on a steep site and integrates modern landscaping with historic buildings and exhibition spaces.

A large walk-in aviary with multiple viewing levels, a glasshouse conservatory housing tropical plant displays, and the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware located within the park’s grounds. Paths, terraces and ponds link the facilities and provide easily accessible routes through the park for short visits.

The site was created by terracing and landscaping a hillside between Government Hill and the commercial district, reprovisioning some historic colonial structures within new parkland. It functions as a green public amenity amid dense urban development.

Hong Kong Park sits in Central, close to Government House and the business district, within walking distance of major MTR stations and ferry piers on Hong Kong Island.

What to See#

• Tea House or Conservatory: A glasshouse conservatory with tropical plant displays, including humid-zone species, used for botanical exhibits and educational displays.
• Flagstaff House Museum: The Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, located within the park in a historic colonial-era building, presents exhibits on tea culture and historic tea ware collections.

Hong Kong Park is a short walk from Admiralty MTR Station (Exit B) or Central Station (about 10-15 minutes). Taxi drop-offs are available on Cotton Tree Drive near the park entrance.

• Enter via the Central or Cotton Tree Drive entrances to explore the alpine garden and the aviary in a single loop.
• Visit the Edward Youde Aviary early in the morning when bird activity and color are at their peak.
