The Historic Town of St George and Related Fortifications is an early English colonial settlement on the eastern end of Bermuda, with an intact street plan and a series of coastal fortifications. It represents one of the earliest successful English colonial towns in the Atlantic.
St George’s was established in the early 1600s as an English colonial port and administrative center, serving strategic and maritime functions across the Atlantic. Over time fortifications were constructed and modified to respond to changing naval technology and geopolitical threats.
