Why Visit Gun Bay? #
Coral-fringed coves and easy snorkeling make this bay appealing for travelers who want slow island days. Gun Bay’s shallow reefs and frequent turtle sightings pair naturally with glass-bottom boat tours and beachside conch fritters at local shacks. Fishermen enjoy convenient access to productive dive sites and sunset charters, while evenings often include rum cake and small community fish-fry gatherings. It’s a quieter alternative for people seeking marine life and simple coastal culture.

How to Get to Gun Bay
Gun Bay (Grand Cayman) is reached via Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in George Town. Ground transport is dominated by taxis, rental cars and a limited route‑bus network; driving is the most flexible way to explore the island.
Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM): Owen Roberts (George Town, Grand Cayman) is the main airport for Grand Cayman and the nearest international gateway to Gun Bay. The airport is about 12-20 minutes’ drive to many western coastal spots; taxis to Gun Bay or nearby beaches typically cost CI$10-CI$30 (~USD 12-35) and take 15-30 minutes. Rental cars are available at the airport and are a common choice for visitors.
Norman Manley / Sangster (regional connections): There are no other airports on Grand Cayman with scheduled international service; visitors arriving via nearby islands will normally transit through GCM. (Regional ferry connections to Grand Cayman are not regular; air is the primary access.)
Train: There is no passenger rail on Grand Cayman.
Bus: Grand Cayman has an informal public minibus system (route buses) with very low fares for local residents and visitors; however routes are limited and not always convenient for hotel-to-beach transfers. Taxis and rental cars are the most reliable ways to get to beaches such as Gun Bay; expect local bus fares to be a few Cayman Islands dollars per ride while taxis range CI$10-CI$30 one way.
