Grand Cayman
Island Largest Cayman Island, major financial and tourist center
The largest of the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman draws swimmers and divers to Seven Mile Beach, boat trips to Stingray City, and George Town’s duty‑free shops and seafood restaurants.
Grand Cayman is the largest of the Cayman Islands and the main population, tourism and financial centre of the territory. The island is located in the western Caribbean Sea and hosts the capital, George Town.
Beaches and dive sites draw most visitors, including the long sandy stretch known as Seven Mile Beach on the west coast and numerous offshore reefs. Popular day‑trip and marine attractions include shallow sandbars and dive sites where visitors can swim with stingrays and explore coral habitats.
Historically a small set of settlements, Grand Cayman developed through the 20th century into a major tourism and offshore financial centre; infrastructure includes resorts, marinas and an international airport that connect it to regional and international markets.
The island lies in the western Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica, with George Town on the south coast providing the main port and air connections.
