Falkland Palace

Falkland Palace is a Renaissance country palace in the village of Falkland in Fife, Scotland, built and used by Scottish monarchs from the 16th century. It served as a royal hunting lodge and country residence and retains significant period architecture.

The site includes richly decorated state rooms, a 16th-century real tennis court and formal gardens laid out in historic patterns. The palace and gardens have been conserved and are open to the public as a historic site.

Originally developed and used by the Stewart dynasty during the 1500s, the palace changed in use and condition over subsequent centuries and has undergone restoration to preserve key interiors and the garden layout. It remains a prominent example of Scottish Renaissance architecture.
