El Veladero National Park Park

El Veladero National Park is a protected area in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, established to conserve the natural hills and vegetation above the coast near Acapulco. The park protects slopes and ridgelines that form a natural backdrop to the coastal city.

Trails and lookout points within the park provide panoramic views over coastal lowlands and Acapulco Bay; the terrain includes dry forest and scrub typical of the region. Hikers and nature observers use the park for short excursions and scenic viewpoints.

The park was designated to protect the local watershed, habitat and scenic ridgelines that surround nearby urban areas, particularly Acapulco.

Located in Guerrero state, the reserve occupies hills rising above the Acapulco coastal area and is accessed from the city and surrounding communities.

El Veladero National Park is accessed from Acapulco; local roads and trails begin near the upper city neighborhoods. From the city centre, take Avenue Costera Miguel Alemán and local roads up the slopes toward Parque El Veladero entrance areas. Taxis and local buses can take visitors partway; hiking from the upper neighborhoods is a common approach.
