Roseau & Southwest Coast (Roseau, Mero, Scotts Head, Champagne Reef)

Late-February mornings can feel fresher after nights cooled by the northeast trades; Roseau is at its clearest and walking the historic streets or hiking the short trails above the city is easy. Carnival-related activity sometimes ramps up in the weeks before, bringing lively markets and more visitors, yet the seas off Scotts Head remain calm - ideal for snorkeling. Bring reef shoes and a sun hat: UV is strong and showers, if they happen, are usually short and sharp.

North Coast & Cabrits Peninsula (Portsmouth, Cabrits National Park, Calibishie)

Late-February often has some of the island’s best weather in the north: bright skies, comfortable humidity and excellent conditions for coastal drives to Calibishie and snorkeling off Capuchin or Batibou Beach. Whale-watching boats operating from Portsmouth get clearer windows, and early-morning hikes around the Cabrits fort are very pleasant. Light layers suffice for mornings while reef shoes are handy for rocky shorelines.

East / Atlantic Coast (Castle Bruce, La Plaine, Marigot, Grand Fond)

A steady northeast wind in February brings frequent clouds and the odd heavy squall to Castle Bruce and Marigot, but day-to-day conditions remain workable for coastal drives and short hikes. The east coast’s rivers are lower than in hurricane season, which makes brief roadside falls accessible safely, though footpaths can still be muddy. Travelers should pack a waterproof layer and prepare for rough, scenic seas that deter casual beach swimming.

Central Highlands & Morne Trois Pitons National Park (Boiling Lake, Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls, Waitukubuli Trail high sections)

A damp clarity in February makes the rainforest sing-water levels are lower than later in the year, visibility through cloud forest can improve, and the hike to Emerald Pool and Trafalgar Falls is very rewarding. Nights at higher elevations are noticeably cool; a fleece and sturdy hiking boots are essential. Daylight hours are good for multi-hour hikes so book a guide if you plan long treks like Boiling Lake, which is most accessible during these drier weeks.

Southern Peninsula & Soufrière Area (Soufrière, Scotts Head peninsula, Grand Bay)

February’s trade winds lend freshness to the south, making coastal drives between Soufrière and Scotts Head very agreeable and the sunsets over the bay especially clear. The peninsula’s snorkeling and surface-sightseeing conditions are reliable, and the local fisherman’s villages have lively markets and quieter beaches. Carry light layers for breezy evenings and reserve boat charters early if you plan a dedicated whale-watching or dive day.
