How to Get to Cuamba

Cuamba is a regional transport node in northern Mozambique with a small local aerodrome and a station on the Nacala rail corridor. In practice most visitors arrive by road from Nampula or Lichinga by chapa or coach, with rail service available but irregular.

By Air

Cuamba Airport (small aerodrome): Cuamba has a small local aerodrome used for occasional domestic flights and charter services. Services are limited and irregular; check schedules in advance if planning to fly directly to Cuamba.

Nampula (APL): Nampula International Airport is the main international airport for northern Mozambique. From Nampula you can travel to Cuamba by road (shared minibuses/chapa) or by rail; the road trip takes around 3-4 hours depending on vehicle and stops.

By Train & Bus
