Choma is best reached by road from Livingstone or Lusaka; Livingstone is the nearer gateway for international visitors. Regular minibuses and private transfers are the most practical onward transport options in Southern Province.

By Air

Harry Mwanga Nkumbula / Livingstone Airport (LVI): Livingstone is the closest major tourist airport to southern Zambia. From Livingstone to Choma it’s typically a 2-3 hour drive by taxi or shuttle; expect fares roughly USD 30-60 for a private transfer (prices vary by operator). You can also travel onward by bus/minibus services.

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka, LUN): Lusaka is the main international gateway; road transfer to Choma is longer (about 3.5-5+ hours depending on route). Long-distance buses and private hires are common from Lusaka to Choma; fares commonly range from USD 15-40 by bus and higher for private cars.

By Train & Bus

Train: Zambia’s passenger rail network does not provide a useful regular passenger rail link directly to Choma for most travellers-rail freight dominates the lines in the region.
