Cherating Travel Guide

Cherating is a beautiful beach town in Pahang, Malaysia, and is full of things to do and see. The beach itself is a stunning stretch of golden sand, lapped at the shore by waves and set in a pleasant town.

The whole area of Cherating is great for nature lovers and fans of the outdoors. As well as relaxing in the sun and swimming in the sea, there are lagoons, rivers, animals and birds as well as shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Cherating is home to Asia’s first Club Med resort, a turtle sanctuary and a cultural village. Visitors can learn how to do batik and design sarongs, t-shirts and scarves with their own designs. The river is a popular place to witness the unique, glowing fireflies and fishing is another favorite pastime.

Getting There & Away

Cherating is only 47kms north of Kuantan town and taxis and buses run all day to and from the area. Kuala Lumpur (133kms away) welcomes many international flights, with the East Coast Expressway providing a great route from the capital to Cherating. You can also from from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan’s domestic airport and then take a bus or taxi.
