How to Get to Temerloh#

Temerloh is a central Pahang town without its own commercial airport; travelers use nearby Kuantan (KUA) for regional flights or Kuala Lumpur for international connections, then continue by bus, taxi or car. Rail access is via nearby Mentakab station with a short onward road transfer.

By Air

Kuantan-Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA): Kuantan is the nearest regional airport to Temerloh; road transfer from KUA to Temerloh is roughly 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic. Taxis or private transfers are the usual option for the airport-to-town leg.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL): For international arrivals most visitors fly into KUL. From KLIA you can take a direct intercity bus from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) or travel by car/train to TBS and then a bus to Temerloh. Road travel from KLIA to Temerloh typically takes 1.5-2.5 hours by car depending on route and traffic.

By Train & Bus

Train: The nearest KTM (Malayan Railway) station for the Temerloh area is Mentakab station (on the central/eastern line); Mentakab is about 25-30 km from Temerloh and can be reached by taxi. Intercity ETS trains do not stop at Temerloh itself.

Bus: Express buses from TBS (Kuala Lumpur) and other regional terminals connect directly to Temerloh; the TBS→Temerloh journey is typically around 2 hours. Local buses and taxis cover the short links from nearby train stations or between neighbouring towns.

How to Get Around Temerloh#

Bus and car are the practical ways to reach and move around Temerloh: express buses connect to KL and Kuantan, while taxis/Grab and short transfers from Mentakab rail station handle last-mile travel. For convenience choose a private transfer; for economy use express buses.

  • Intercity express buses (MYR 10-30) - Buses from KL (TBS) and other Malaysian cities stop in Temerloh regularly; they are affordable, comfortable and a practical choice for most visitors. Book online for popular departure times and weekends.
  • Taxi / private transfer (MYR 50-200) - Taxis and private cars give the most convenient door-to-door service, especially from nearby airports and Mentakab station. Fares are higher than buses but far quicker and more comfortable with luggage.
  • KTM & regional rail (via Mentakab) (MYR 5-30 (plus onward taxi)) - Mentakab is the closest rail station; from there a taxi or local bus completes the trip to Temerloh. Rail can be comfortable for longer overland segments but requires a last-mile road transfer.
  • Grab / e-hailing (MYR 8-60) - Grab is widely available in Pahang and is a convenient alternative to local taxis for shorter trips and airport transfers if coverage is present. Fares vary with demand and time of day.
  • Walking - Temerloh’s town centre is compact and easy to explore on foot for markets, riverside areas and local eateries; use covered shoes during the rainy season.
