How to Get to Chandra, Comoros#

Chandra is a small settlement on Anjouan (Nzwani). The island’s Ouani Airport (AJN) is the entry point for air arrivals, with onward travel by taxi, shared taxi or minibus. Inter-island connections use Prince Said Ibrahim International (Moroni, HAH) or ferry services, then local flights to Ajouan.

By Air

Ouani Airport (AJN): Ouani (Anjouan) is the island airport serving northern Anjouan. Taxis and shared taxis (taxi-collectifs) connect Ouani with nearby towns; travel times to small villages such as Chandra are typically 20-60 minutes depending on exact location. Fares are modest - expect shared-taxi fares of a few hundred Comorian francs and private taxis higher; cash in KMF is required.

Prince Said Ibrahim International (HAH): On Grande Comore (Moroni) this is the main international airport for the country. If you must travel from Moroni to Anjouan you will normally take an internal flight or a ferry; internal flights to Anjouan land at Ouani (AJN). From Ouani a short taxi or collectif will take you onward to local villages.

Train: There are no rail services in the Comoros.

Bus / Shared taxi (taxi-collectif): Inter-village transport on Anjouan is primarily by shared minibuses and taxi-collectifs.
