Exploring Champei Waterfall#
Champei Waterfall, also known as Laang Ta Thong, is the main attraction near Samraong, tucked into dense jungle some 30 kilometres from town. Its name means “frangipani flower” in Khmer, a fitting nod to the setting: both sides of the valley enclosing the falls are lined with flowers, including many orchids. Less visited than Cambodia’s better-known sights, it offers a tranquil escape into nature, with water cascading through lush greenery.
A meditation centre stands close to the falls, drawing monks who come here to meditate, and the surrounding area is a fine spot for nature lovers and anyone keen to explore a quieter, less-trodden corner of the country.
