Santo Antão & São Nicolau
April brings noticeably warmer afternoons, with daytime temps often topping the low 20s and the hills drying after the cool season. Farm terraces around Fontainhas show the season’s green left from earlier moisture, and spring flowers appear. Trails are easier than in the wet season but still uneven; hikers should carry sun protection for exposed stretches.

April sees the winds remain reliable while humidity stays low; excursions to Baía das Gatas and nearby beaches are pleasant and the sea is usually calm enough for day trips.
