Calicoan Island is a low-lying island in Eastern Visayas, Philippines, part of the municipality of Guiuan in Eastern Samar. It is notable for its white-sand beaches and coastal reef environments.
The island offers several long sandy beaches, reef and beach surf breaks, and shallow coral areas used for snorkeling and fishing. Day trips and small-scale beach tourism are common, with basic visitor facilities concentrated in a few settlements on the island.
Calicoan has long been a fishing and coastal-plain community; local settlements developed around maritime livelihoods and small-scale tourism. The island was affected by major storms in the 21st century, which altered some shoreline features and coastal infrastructure.
The island sits off the eastern tip of Samar Island in Eastern Samar province, close to the town of Guiuan. Boats connect it to Guiuan and nearby coastal communities; the surrounding waters open onto the Philippine Sea.
