About Café A Brasileira

Opened in 1905 by Adriano Telles, A Brasileira began as a shop importing and selling Brazilian coffee. Over time it became a café and a long running fixture of central Lisbon.

It sits in the old quarter of Lisbon, in the Santa Maria Maior parish, and is closely associated with the Chiado neighbourhood’s street life. Its long history and central location make it a frequent stop for travellers exploring nearby sights on foot.

Today it is known as a landmark café, the kind of place people visit as much for the atmosphere and setting as for a coffee break.
