How to Get to Bushenge

By Air

Kigali International Airport (KGL): Kigali is the main international gateway for Rwanda. From KGL you can reach western parts of the country by shared minibuses or private car hires; travel times to towns in Western Province are several hours depending on destination and road conditions. Expect variable prices - private transfers are substantially more expensive than shared buses.

By Train & Bus

Train: Rwanda has no national passenger rail service; trains are not a travel option.

Bus / Minibus: Intercity minibuses (often called “taxi-brousse” or shared vans) and coach operators run routes from Kigali toward western districts (e.g., Rubavu/Gisenyi, Karongi). These services are the common, affordable option for reaching rural places; travel times depend on exact location and road quality. Local motorbike taxis (motos) are widely used for short hops from bus stops into villages.
