How to Get to Bugarama
Bugarama is reached overland from Kigali or nearby border towns; there are no local airports or rail options. Public minibuses and buses are the typical low-cost option, with private hire available for faster, direct transfers.
Kigali International Airport (KGL): Kigali is the main arrival point for western Rwanda. From Kigali travel by road to Bugarama (in the Rusizi area) - the journey typically takes 4-6 hours by bus or private car. Bus fares from Kigali to the western border areas generally range from 6,000-20,000 RWF.
No nearby commercial airports: There are no regular scheduled flights directly into Bugarama; all air arrivals require an onward road transfer.
Train: Rwanda does not have passenger rail services.
