How to Get to Brela

Brela on the Makarska Riviera is most commonly reached via Split Airport followed by a bus or taxi to Makarska and a short onward transfer to Brela. Buses along the coast are the usual public‑transport option; a car is handy for flexibility.

By Air

Split Airport (SPU): Split is the main airport for Brela (about 45-60 km). From Split Airport you can take a direct bus or taxi to Makarska (bus ~1-1.5 hours, taxi ~50-70 minutes) and then a short regional bus or taxi to Brela (Makarska→Brela ~15 minutes). Bus timetables change seasonally; check Promet Makarska and airport transfer operators.

Zadar / Dubrovnik: Zadar and Dubrovnik airports are farther away and typically involve longer transfers by road (2+ hours); they are less convenient unless you have specific low‑cost flights.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no direct rail service to Brela; the coastal railway serves other parts of Croatia but you’ll typically use buses along the Dalmatian coast.

Bus: Intercity buses from Split to Makarska are frequent (about 1-1.5 hours) and from Makarska you can catch a local bus or taxi to Brela (around 10-20 minutes). Fares vary by operator and season - expect Split→Makarska tickets to cost in the range of tens of kuna.

How to Get Around Brela #

Brela is a small coastal town where beaches and the main promenade are easily reached on foot; the town is very walkable in high season. Intercity buses run along the coastal route between Split and Dubrovnik with stops nearby; taxis and car hire are useful for exploring the Makarska Riviera and inland spots.
