How to Get to Birštonas
Birštonas is a small spa town best reached by bus from Kaunas or Vilnius; Kaunas Airport is the closest international airport. There is no train station in town, so most travellers transfer via Kaunas (rail) or Vilnius (air) and continue by regional bus.
Kaunas Airport (KUN): From Kaunas Airport take the airport shuttle or a local bus to Kaunas city centre (about 25-35 minutes). Typical one‑way shuttle/bus fares are around €3-€5. From Kaunas central bus station there are frequent regional buses to Birštonas (approx 40-50 minutes, ~€2.5-€4).
Vilnius Airport (VNO): Vilnius is the larger international hub; an express bus or city bus reaches Vilnius bus station in 15-30 minutes (tickets ~€1.50-€3). From Vilnius bus station there are regular intercity buses to Birštonas (journey ~1-1h15, fares typically €3.5-€5).
Train: Birštonas does not have its own railway station. The nearest major railhead is Kaunas railway station (Kauno geležinkelio stotis). Trains run between Vilnius and Kaunas (about 1-1h20 depending on service); tickets are inexpensive (a few euros). From Kaunas station take a local bus or taxi to the Kaunas bus station for onward buses to Birštonas.
