How to Get to Bauang
Bauang (La Union) is usually reached overland by bus from Metro Manila or by road from nearby airports. Long‑distance buses are frequent and convenient; private transfers are faster if you prefer door‑to‑door travel.
Laoag (LAO) / Clark (CRK) / Manila (MNL): Bauang (La Union) has no regular commercial airport; the nearest airports with frequent service are Laoag (north) and Clark or Manila (south). From these airports you continue by bus or private transfer to Bauang-expect multi‑hour drives from Manila (around 4-6 hours depending on traffic) and shorter drives from Laoag.
San Fernando (La Union) (local airfield): There is a small local airfield at San Fernando with limited services historically; most travellers use the larger airports above and proceed by road.
Train: The Philippine National Railways’ current regular intercity rail services do not connect Bauang. Rail services in Luzon are limited and do not provide practical access to La Union for most travellers.
Bus: Long‑distance buses run frequently from Manila’s Cubao or Divisoria terminals to Bauang and San Fernando (La Union). Major bus companies (Partas, Philippine Rabbit, Dominion, and others) offer air‑conditioned services; travel times from Manila are typically 4-6 hours depending on traffic and bus type.
How to Get Around Bauang #
Bauang is easily navigated on foot within the town proper; tricycles (motorbike taxis with sidecars) and jeepneys run short routes to nearby barangays. Long-distance buses and vans connect Bauang to other towns along the Luzon west coast. For surf or beach spots, tricycles and rented motorcycles are common.
