Lingayen Gulf is a broad bay on the northwestern coast of Luzon in the Philippines, opening to the South China Sea. It has been a strategic coastal feature for shipping, fisheries and military operations.
The gulf is fringed by coastal towns, beaches and fishing communities and includes port facilities such as the town of Lingayen. It is used for commercial and local maritime activities rather than large-scale tourism infrastructure.
Lingayen Gulf is widely known for the Allied amphibious landings of January 1945 during World War II, which were a major step in the liberation of Luzon. The area has a long maritime and military history related to its coastal position.
The gulf lies on the western seaboard of northern Luzon, bordered by provinces including Pangasinan and La Union, and faces the open South China Sea.
