How to Get to Aguçadoura

Aguçadoura is on Portugal's northern coast near Póvoa de Varzim and is most easily reached via Porto (OPO). Combine Porto metro and CP suburban trains with a short local bus or taxi for the final few kilometres.

By Air

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, Porto (OPO): Porto is the closest international airport to Aguçadoura. From Porto Airport take the metro to Campanhã (about 30-40 minutes, roughly €2) then a suburban train (CP) to Póvoa de Varzim (around 30-40 minutes, ~€2.50-€4). From Póvoa de Varzim a short local bus or taxi will reach Aguçadoura in 10-15 minutes.

Porto (other airports/entries): Other nearby airfields are small or general aviation only; Porto (OPO) is the practical international gateway for northern Portugal and the only airport you should plan around for Aguçadoura.

By Train & Bus

Train: Take CP suburban/regional trains from Porto (Campanhã or São Bento) toward Póvoa de Varzim; journey time from central Porto is approximately 30-40 minutes and fares are typically €2.50-€4.

Bus: Local bus operators run frequent short services between Póvoa de Varzim and nearby coastal villages, including Aguçadoura. The final leg from Póvoa de Varzim to Aguçadoura is short (10-20 minutes) and inexpensive; check local company timetables for exact routes.

How to Get Around Aguçadoura #

Aguçadoura is a small coastal village that’s easily explored on foot, especially along the beach. Roads are bike-friendly and cycling is popular in good weather. Public buses link to Póvoa de Varzim and nearby towns, but service frequency can be limited; a car gives the most flexibility for exploring the coast and hinterland.
