How to Get to Viana do Castelo
Viana do Castelo is well connected to Porto by regular regional trains and intercity buses. For most travellers the fastest approach is fly into Porto (OPO) and continue by train or coach to Viana.
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto, OPO): The nearest major airport (about 70-80 km south of Viana do Castelo). From OPO take the metro or a taxi to Campanhã station then a regional train to Viana do Castelo (1-1.5 hours total). A taxi direct from OPO to Viana takes about 50-70 minutes (€60-€90).
Vigo (VGO) / Other regional airports: Vigo and Santiago de Compostela airports are across the nearby border in Spain and Galicia; they are further away and less convenient than Porto for most international travellers.
